AT LEAST 11 REPORTED KILLED IN SUICIDE BOMBING ATTACK NEAR GOVERNOR'S HOUSE

At least 11 people have been killed and 40 others wounded in a suicide attack in eastern Afghan city of Asadabad, Kunar province, Pajhwok Afghan News reports, citing officials.

A suicide bomber detonated explosives near the governor's office, local media say.
Provincial Governor Wahidullah Kalimzai said the attacker arrived on a motorcycle to the entrance of the government headquarters, and blew himself up.
"Most of victims were civilians and children who were either passing by or playing in the park, " he told Reuters.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but tribal elder and militia commander Haji Khan Jan was killed – and he participated in a few operations against the Taliban over the last year.
