JUST IN: Ex-Egyptian President, Mohammed Morsi Sentenced to Life in Prison

Former President of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi 

Cairo Criminal Court sentenced Saturday former president Mohamed Morsi to life in prison, along with two other defendants, in the “Qatar espionage” case, Daily News Egypt reports.

The presiding judge, Mohamed Shereen Fahmy, also sentenced Morsi to another 15 years for a different charge in the same case. Fahmy employed several nationalist connotations while reading the court’s decision.


The session witnessed a heavy presence of security forces in the fortified Police Academy in downtown Cairo.

Morsi and the other defendants are accused of leaking national security documents and information related to national security to Qatar during Morsi’s presidency.
